This week, the NC Drought Monitor put most of Macon County into Extreme D3 drought designation, most of Jackson and Swain remain in Severe D2 drought conditions. I know several producers who have been feeding hay for months now, I would like to start a hay hotline for the county.
If you are in need of hay or if you will have hay to sale, please call the office at 828-349-2046 and we will do our best to link those needing hay with those who have hay for sale here locally.
We will need to know your name and phone number as well as if you are needing hay or if you have hay to sale.
NCDA also has a statewide hay Alert page for buyers and sellers. The link is: http://www.ncagr.gov/HayAlert/index.htm
Small producers, it may be possible to group producers together to get a shipment of hay and reduce the shipping costs.
