Soil sampling is the foundation of your farm or garden. Watch this video provided by Joe Deal, Extension Agent, Agriculture – Livestock, Forages and Pastures, Macon County, on how to correctly take a soil sample. Joe will show you the steps to obtain the perfect soil sample, how deep you need to go with the probe to get the soil and what type of container to put the soil sample in to mix the soil together. Once you have obtained your soil sample, he will show you how to mail your sample to N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and fill out your paperwork.
