Commercial Wine Grape and Muscadine Production Seminar

Interested in starting a commercial wine grape or muscadine farm? A free seminar will be held for potential new growers and individuals desiring to lean more on how to produce grapes for commercial production.  Craig Mauney, NCSU Area Specialized Agent for commercial fruit and vegetable production in the WNC will cover basic but critical topics such as: site selection and preparation, proper soil and fertility needs, spacing, trellising and pruning, choosing the right cultivars, an introductions to pests, budget costs, the market and more.

This event will be held on Wednesday February 25th  from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the Macon Extension Center located on 193 Thomas Heights Rd. Franklin NC. An outdoor “hand on” pruning demonstration will take place from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at a nearby Farm in Franklin. For demonstration purposes we ask that you bring your own pruners and loppers.
