Tammara Talley, 4-H Youth Development Agent with the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Macon County was awarded the Dr. Marshall and Mrs. Jan Stewart 4-H Leadership Award at NC State Extension Annual Conference held the week of October 3, 2022.

The Dr. R. Marshall and Mrs. Jan Stewart 4-H Leadership Award was established by Associate Director, Department Head, and State 4-H Leader, Dr. Marshall Stewart and his wife Jan to recognize an outstanding 4-H professional (4-H Agent, 4-H Program Assistant, 4-H Program Associate, or 4-H Specialist) who has demonstrated excellence as a tenured professional of 10 years or more.

Tammara’s leadership provides an excellent 4-H Program in Macon County.  Macon County has 10 active 4-H clubs that meet monthly.  These clubs have the same umbrella goals – building knowledge, confidence, independence, and civic engagement.  Clubs include: Macon Archers 4-H Club, Top Chefs, Budding Chefs, Sassy Stitchers, Macon Sharp Shooters, 4-H Market Lamb Club, EPICS Youth Council, Macon Mountain Goats 4-H Club, Cattle, Bee and Macon Hoofprints.  Tammara has a core group of adult volunteers that assist and run these 4-H programs.

Tammara has worked in Macon County 4-H for 9 years and with N.C. Cooperative Extension for 20 years.  The Macon County 4-H program is very blessed to have Tammara and proud of her accomplishments.  She is very deserving of this award.
