Tammara Talley, 4-H Youth Development Agent with NC State Extension, was recognized for her achievements during the 2021 North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals Annual Conference held on September 2, 2021.
Talley received the Mike A. Davis Family 4-H Award for Innovation and Excellence.
Tammara has worked with Macon County 4-H for 8 years and with N.C. Cooperative Extension for 18 years. The Macon County 4-H program focuses on increasing knowledge, developing achievement, increasing hands-on skills, and encouraging positive attitudes of independence.
Talley has been a 4-H’er for over 40 years, starting out as a cloverbud following her mom who was an FCS Agent. She began her Extension career as an Area Small Farms Agent with N.C. A&T State University for 10 years. In 2012, she came back to Macon County as the 4-H Agent. Her greatest success is in the club program. Macon County 4-H consists of twelve different clubs focusing on animal science, foods, archery, sewing and crafts, chess, and youth council. Way to go, Tammara!
The purpose of the North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals is to promote the profession of Extension 4-H and youth work in North Carolina. The 4-H program is the youth education program of North Carolina Cooperative Extension, based at North Carolina State University and North Carolina A&T State University. More than 260,000 young people ages 5 through 18 participate in North Carolina 4-H activities each year with the help of 16,700 adult and youth volunteers.
