Extension Strategic Plan 2030
Charting Our Course While much of the world around us has changed in recent years, Extension’s essential role in our state’s prosperity and the lives of millions of North Carolinians has never wavered. In order to sustain our growth and success, we must reflect and build upon past successes, maintain our momentum, and evolve to expand our relevance while meeting the diverse needs of our communities.
Extension is a bridge between North Carolinians and our state’s preeminent research university. With 101 local centers, more than 1,000 experts and a vast network of partnerships, Extension puts knowledge into action, delivering research-based solutions to local issues statewide.
To chart a course for the future, we traveled the state and heard from more than 1,000 of our team members, met one-on-one with various stakeholders, and collected more than 9,000 survey responses from program participants and partners throughout the state. The resulting NC State Extension Strategic Plan 2023-2030 is a direct reflection of this comprehensive, stakeholder-driven planning process.
Current Plan
Our strategic plan presents a vision of what NC State Extension seeks to sustain and aspire to; it identifies the priorities, goals and strategies that will guide us over the next seven years; and it outlines how our work will continue to translate research into real solutions and impacts that improve the lives of North Carolinians and grow our state.
Moving forward, this NC State Extension strategic plan will help chart both an ongoing course for individual initiatives within our university, as well as continued collaboration, success and growth for our N.C. Cooperative Extension partnership.
