Imported fire ants have become a prevalent pest in Macon County of the past 15 years. They can be found in lawns and landscapes, along sidewalks and in pastures and crop fields throughout the county. In order to help mitigate the effects of imported fire ants, the North Carolina Cooperative Extension will be holding a workshop on controlling fire ants on Tuesday May 9th at the Macon County Fairgrounds located at 1436 Georgia Road, Franklin, NC starting at 6:00pm.
The free workshop will cover how to identify and control fire ants around your home, business or farm. The workshop is open to the public. One hour of continuing education pesticide credits will be available for private and commercial pesticide applicators.
